1st edition (1985) of my Lonely Planet guide. It displaced my Frommerguide (below) as the best-seller.

My 2nd (1988) LP guide. My cover photo almost caused a diplomatic incident.

My latest (and last) Lonely Planet guide (7th, 2001; with co-authors Pat Yale and Richard Plunkett).

Turkey on $5 a Day, 1st editionLonely Planet Istanbul, 2nd editionTurkey Travel Atlas, 1st edition

My first book (1971), for Frommer’s. To my surprise, it soon became the best-seller to the destination.

2nd edition of my Lonely Planet Istanbulguide (1999), with cover photo by my friend Kim Grant.

LP Turkey Travel Atlas: I set up a database to deal with the 12,000 town and village names.
