Blue Mosque in Winter, Istanbul

In summer the Blue Mosque is partially obscured by leafy trees from this vantage point in the ByzantineHippodrome. But in winter you get a different view.

The stone tower in the foreground is the Obelisk of Theodosius, carved in ancient Egypt about 1500 BC, and brought to Constantinople in 390 AD by Emperor Theodosius.
