İzmir‘s historic Basmane Gar is İzmir’s main station forAegean regional trains, with connections to the suburban and Metro lines.
Located at the eastern end of Fevzipaşa Bulvarı near 9 (Dokuz) Eylül Square and the İzmir International Fairgrounds (), it serves:
—İzmir Metro
—Turkish State Railways Regional trains south to Adnan Menderes Airport, Selçuk (for Ephesus), Söke, Nazilli and Denizli (for Pamukkale).
—Turkish State Railways trains north to Bandırma (for the fast ferry to Istanbul).
Basmane station has a spartan waiting room, snack stands and toilets (WC). There are several small restaurants nearby, and more than 20 hotels in all price reanges on and off Fezipaşa Bulvarı.
The main station for intercity trains, such as the Karesi Ekspresi and İzmir Mavi Tren between İzmir and Ankara, is Alsancak Gar, about one km north of Basmane, easily reachable by İZBAN suburban train. More…
To travel between Basmane and İzmir’s Otogar (bus terminal/coach station), walk out of Basmane station, turn left, then left around the corner onto Gaziler Caddesi.
Cross this busy street and walk east past the Hotel Metro to the ESHOT bus stop at Gaziler Caddesi No. 78.
Buy a fare card from the little İpek Büfe news-and-snacks kiosk at No. 78. Board Bus 54 or Bus 191(marked for Otogar).
The trip takes about 30 minutes in light mid-day traffic.
