Denizli to Laodicea & Pamukkale

Some intercity buses take you directly to Pamukkale, but most stop or terminate at the Denizli Metropolitan Bus Terminal (Denizli Büyükşehir Otobüs Terminali), called the Denizli Otogar, in the center of Denizli, 18 km (11 miles) south of Pamukkale ().

There is an Emanetçi (Left Luggage/Baggage Check) on the lower (minibus) level of the Otogar.

Minibuses depart the Otogar’s Peron (Gate) 76 on the lower level (beneath the intercity bus gates) every 15 to 20 minutes all day long on the way to LaodiceaPamukkale and Karahayıt.

For Laodicea, say to the driver: Laodikya’da inecek var (lah-oh-DEEK-ya-da een-eh-JEHK vahr, “I want to get out at Laodicea.”)

In Pamukkale Town at the foot of the travertines, the minibus stops on the main street below the central mosque. If you get out here you must walk up through the pools and travertines(with your shoes off) to the top.

To ride up the hill, stay in the minibus past Pamukkale Town and say to the driver: Örenyeri Kuzey Giriş (ur-REHN-yeh-ree koo-ZEY gee-reesh, “Archeological Site North Entrance“). From the North Entrance you can walk for 20 to 30 minute (1 km, 6/10 mile) or take the Servis Arabası, shuttle van (TL2) through the vast North Necropolis (cemetery) to the top of the travertinesAntique PoolArcheological Museum, and ruins of Hierapolis.

By Car

With your own car, drive from Pamukkale Town toward Karahayıt for about two km to reach the North Entrance and its parking lots (fee).
