With its crystal clear blue water, Konyaaltı Beach is the place to be in Antalya. It’s the perfect spot to get away from everyday life and forget about all your worries. The beach extends for 7 km (4.3 miles), leaving space for all who visit.
Konyaalti Plajı (Beach) stretches from the port of Antalya to the end of the city’s sea cliffs. The eastern part of the beach is much more popular than the western part. In addition, at the eastern end of the beach, you will encounter a small winding road that meanders down the cliff. It’s accessible by car and on foot, but pedestrians are rewarded with a panoramic view of the sweeping coastline, framed by a backdrop of mountains. It’s especially stunning during sunset, combined with a drink or meal from the plethora of dining options next to the sea.
Activities
Once at the beach, you will see various places that have lounge chairs and umbrellas. The ones that are attached to a cafe or eatery come with a fee, with the rate depending on the establishment. Therefore, if you are on a budget or coming with a large group, it might be better to bring chairs or mats and make a comfortable place to sit and relax. Sections of the beach have been designated as blue flag beaches, which means they have higher standards of cleanliness and sustainability.
From biking to jet skiing and running to parasailing, you can find many activities to do. There are kiosks along the beach where you can easily rent a bike (Antbis), and cycle the entire length of the beach. There are bike paths present all along the coastline. Apart from biking, you can also encounter many people running and playing sports. If your hotel is near the beach, it would make a great place to take a morning run. The most exciting activity is watersports, with facilities mainly located on the eastern side of the beach. You can go parasailing and enjoy the beautiful view of the Konyaaltı beach. It’s also possible to rent a jet ski or ride on a banana boat.
Dining
There is no shortage of cafes, restaurants, and small eateries all along the coastline. At the marina, many cafes are all lined up next to one another, allowing for a variety of options, from upscale restaurants to kebap shops and even fast-food restaurants. It can be nice to end your day with a nice meal at a nice restaurant after having spent the whole day at the beach. While sitting at the beach, you may even want to try the food from vendors who walk along the beach. They sell local favorites such as mussels, simit (similar to a bagel), boiled corn on the cob, gözleme (a stuffed pastry), and halka tatlısı, which is a special dessert made of round, fried dough, similar to churros.
