Çıralı, Turkey Guide

Last Updated on December 9, 2022

Wanting to reset in a quaint beach town on the coast of Turkey? Look no further: Çıralı is the perfect spot for you. Known for its unique archeology, boat tours, and biking culture, Çıralı is located 80 km (50 miles) southwest of Antalya. This coastal village is surrounded by stunning cliffs and the crystal clear turquoise Mediterranean

Olympus Ancient City

Straddling a river and overlooking the Mediterranean sea, the ancient ruins of Olympus (also spelled Olympos and Olimpos in Turkish) are truly unique. Tucked away on the Turkish coast, ancient Olympus was notorious for once being the stronghold of a Roman-era pirate. Prominent features of the site include acropolis defenses built right over the beach cliffs, several ancient churches, a bishop’s residence, a bath complex, necropolises, and a massive temple. You can access the site by walking down the beach till you see the magnificent acropolis ruins topping the cliffs like something out of a fairy tale.

Olympus Eternal Flames

During your stay in Çıralı, you can’t miss the eternal flames. This natural phenomenon will surely captivate you. Emerging from the rock, around a dozen flames naturally sustain themselves. Be sure to hike to this site at night, and don’t forget to bring along s’mores!

Mahi Mahi Yacht Tour

The best way to experience the southern coastline of Turkey is by taking a Mahi Mahi Yacht alongside the Mediterranean. If you’re craving a relaxing day while on vacation, you will not regret boating with Mahi Mahi. The top deck of the boat is a great place to lay down and relax, and the bottom deck is where you can get to know your guides, and other passengers on the boat. During your time on the sea, you will have unlimited refreshments including beer, iced tea, and soda. For lunch, you will indulge in freshly fried fish, salad, and pasta. During your day trip, your boat will stop along Çıralı’s beautiful coves, allowing you to take in the breathtaking views, relax, and swim - oftentimes sea turtles will accompany you on your swim.

Cliff Jumping

Çıralı’s cliffs are inviting to anyone craving a little adventure. During your stay, be sure to jump into the sea from the cliffs surrounding Çıralı. Use caution and do not jump without first snorkeling at the base of the jump to evaluate the landing.

Biking

Spanning approximately 3 kilometers (1.8 miles), Çıralı is best navigated by bike. Upon entering the town, you will immediately find yourself drawn into the distinct biking culture. It is a rare sight to see tourists walking along the winding streets of Çıralı; the town is brimming with bikes. If you stay with Canada Hotel, you will have access to their free bikes to explore the surrounding area. There are also bike rentals in the town. We recommend using Çıralı Eco Ride (Ulupınar, Çıralı Sk No.39/6, 07980 Kemer/Antalya).

Transport

Transport to Çıralı is simple and straightforward. Located just 80 km (50 miles) southwest of Antalya, the drive to Çıralı via bus only takes about an hour and a half. Buses depart from Antalya’s Otogar about every hour.  In summer, dolm mini buses wait at the Çıralı junction to shuttle travelers to the village. Renting a car is also an easy option when planning a trip to Çıralı. Be sure to take the road that leads to Çıralı, not to Olimpos. These two can be easily confused. Read more here!
