Kaleiçi (Old Antalya; ) is my favorite part of Antalya because of its Roman ruins and Ottoman mansions, picturesque narrow winding streets, yacht harbor ringed with restaurants, and quiet neighborhood lifestyle right at the heart of a sprawling big city.

Kaleiçi is surrounded by many hotels, pensions, and boutique hotels with stylish rooms in a great location. You can also experience an authentic lifestyle of Ottoman culture in Ottoman mansions.

Hotel Types in Kaleiçi

Hotels in Kaleiçi can be divided into two categories: boutique hotels, inns and pensions. There are advantages and disadvantages to each type. Choosing the right hotel for you will be important for the quality of your experience.

Budget Pensions in Old Antalya

These small pensions in Kaleiçi are much like traditional houses, small boutique hotels, and inns, but simple, with lower prices.

Boutique Hotels in Old Antalya

There are also Ottoman-style inns and pensions with an outdoor pool. Staying at a boutique hotel offers more services along with higher room prices.

Where to Stay in Kaleiçi

Kaleiçi offers a wide variety of accommodation options, ranging from hotels and pensions to boutique establishments featuring stylish rooms in prime locations. For a truly authentic experience, consider staying in one of the lovingly restored Ottoman mansions, where you can immerse yourself in the rich culture and history of the region.

Kaleiçi is divided into several mahalles (neighborhood districts). The name of the mahalle (mah-HAH-leh) is given in every hotel address, so paying attention to the mahalle can help you to choose, locate and get to your hotel.

Selçuk Mahallesi

This is the western district bounded by Republic Square (Cumhuriyet Meydanı, with the dramatic statue) and the Grooved Minaret (Yivli Minare) to the north and Antalya Marina (Yat Limanı) to the west. It's the most convenient location to the city center, bazaar district, and transportation.

Tuzcular Mahallesi

This is the district northeast of Selçuk Mahallesi and includes the landmark Kalekapısı and Tekeli Mehmet Paşa Camii (mosque). It's also convenient to everything in the city center.

Barbaros Mahallesi

This district to the southeast of Selçuk Mahallesi and south of Tuzcular Mahallesi holds many of the cheaper boutique hotels and pensions. It's closer to Karaalioğlu Park, and only a slightly longer walk from Kalekapısı.
